Paper Writing Difficulties
difficulty in organizing papers and thoughts
difficulty in using cursive script ; usually preferring to print
avoids writing lengthy sentences / paragraphs
Spelling
reversals : friend = freind
habitually drops or adds letters and word parts when writing
unable to spell common, everyday words as well as more difficult words
letters and words often out of sequence
Reading
slow reader
problems with reading comprehension
reads literally ("There is a fork in the road")
reads out of sequence and revises order or words
often mistakes one word for another (for and from / to and of)
tracking difficulty - skips over words or lines when reading
avoids reading whenever possible and skips over written directions
Memory
difficulty in retention of 'common knowledge' items, such as names of places etc.,
often loses, misplaces or forgets things
Speech
difficulty in pronouncing words
difficulty getting a point across
