Letter to an Australian School

Hi Mrs. Jamieson and Class,

Well today was our first day of school and Mrs. Coats is now exhausted!

It is hard to go back to work after a summer of leisure. You won't believe

it, but we almost had to call off our first day of school because it was so

foggy. Instead, school was delayed for two hours. Instead of starting at

8:15, we started at 10:15. We ate lunch at 11:10! So we had just enough

time to take lunch count and go to the computer lab to check out our new

web site and our Australian pages and then it was lunch time! Mrs. Coats

showed us all the wonderful gifts you sent us and gave us each a key chain and

postcard of Australia. She read the book, Koala Lou to us. Now everyone

wants to take Koala Lou on a trip away from school. We also got your pen

pal letters. Some of us got one letter, and some of us will have two pen

pals. We are going to work on our letters to you tomorrow because we ran

out of time today. We did take pictures of ourselves outside on the

playground equipment. Mrs. Coats will get those developed and send them

to you. Tomorrow we will have more time to get a few pictures of Koala Lou

at school and some of the whole class. We are very excited about being your

pen pals and plan on doing a super job of getting to know you. We will

write again tomorrow and send pictures.
