Hi Sheryl and Students,

I bet the students that did not have an epal are excited about the news that I have found them a class to write to. Your new pen pals will soon be writing to you. I gave Mrs. Bartol, a first grade teacher, the names of the ten Australian students that needed epals. She said she is really "pumped" about having epals for her class. Mrs. Bartol is a great teacher and is full of enthusiasm and creative ideas. I am sure that she will get this new connection off the ground in an exciting way. It will be fun sharing ideas with her and planning projects that we can do together to make our Class Connect Project even better.

Well, winter is officially over for us in Wisconsin. Our snow has melted. However, our temperatures are not that warm yet. We are having temps in the thirties, forties and sometimes 50s. We actually had a few snowflakes yesterday, but they did not stay very long. Our spring flowers are beginning to peek through the ground. Soon the grass will green up and we will be able to put our winter coats and boots away for another year.

It is fall in Australia, right? What kind of weather do you typically get during your fall season? Do you have trees that lose their leaves in the fall? That is what happens here in Wisconsin. When it is fall, many of the leaves on trees change colors and then fall to the ground. You would see lots of red, yellow and orange leaves during the fall. Fall is also our harvest season for fruits and vegetables. We pick our apples, pumpkins, squash, melons and corn in the late summer and early fall. Do your growing seasons end in the fall?

We hope you write back soon. It is fun learning how Australia and Wisconsin are alike and how they are different. Look for letters from my class tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Coats
