Dear Mrs. Jamieson and Parker,

What a great surprise! Doni received Parker's package in the mail today. He opened the package during our social studies class.

At first he did not know what was wrapped up in the cellophane. He screamed and said it was a rat. We all laughed when we opened it and found it was a small stuffed animal. (wombat) He loved the chocolate eggs, but was not so sure about the vegemite.

He let the students that were brave enough taste the vegemite. However, we didn't have any crackers or toast to put it on, so we just tried it plain. Most students found it to be very salty. A few didn't like it at all! We are wondering if all of you eat vegemite on your toast? We like our toast with jam, jelly or peanut butter. Do you have those things in Australia??? We have all kinds of jams and jellies that you could try if you don't have them there. Please let us know what else you put on your toast. Have you ever tried cinamon and sugar on toast? It is really good.

We want to thank Parker for sending this great package. It caused lots of excitement during our social studies class. Doni is trying to think of a food to send to Parker. We will have to talk by email about different foods that you might like to try. We hope you have a great weekend. Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Coats and her second graders
