Dear Mrs.Coats and Class, Thank you all for your recent letters. We are always so pleased to hear from you even if it is only a sentence or two. How clever you are learning to send your own email. My students all have their own email address and they send their letters themsleves too (with just a little bit of help from time to time) We are pleased that you liked the books and the stickers and that you all got to try some lovely Aussie chocolate! Mrs. Coats asked me about our national colours and yes they are green and gold. People say this is like the lovel wattles trees that are native to Australia. The leaves are bright green and in spring they have yellow fluffy clumps of flowers on them. I know one of your famous football teams is GreenBay Packers and when I lived in Alaska that is the team I supported because they were green and gold like Australia. Here is a photo of our Postcards that we are sending soon.
On the weekend I updated my class profile page on my website so you might see your e-pals drawing and information there. I still have the year 3 students to do.We will add information throughout the year. We do use PowerPoint in our classroom. Mrs. Coats gave me an idea. I will go around the town and school and take some pictures and have the children record a little information about each slide and then we could email it to you. Wow I love all this sharing that we are doing and you are such lucky people to have a teacher that encourages you to do really neat stuff. By the way thanks for the two pictures of Koala Lou reading her new Aussie books. We have some fascinating animals in Australia but we know you have some neat ones in Wisconsin too. This week as some children wrote in their email is Come Out week. It is a special week when all schools focus on the arts. We are having a dressup day tomorrow on a beach theme, Wednesday we are able to select a video to watch in the afternoon and Friday is our whole school parade along the main street. Then all classes do a special item. Our song is called "The Summer Rain Dance" we are all holding umbrellas and doing some actions with them to the music. After that we have a band coming to play lots of popular songs. We will all deserve a big rest by the weekend! Have a great week at your school.
