Basketball: US foils Australia's dream
For four years, Australia had looked forward to this moment. Get to the gold-medal game against the United States in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, hold the home-court advantage, and maybe, just maybe, if the stars are right, pull off the great upset of women's basketball. It all panned out perfectly, except for one thing. The Australian home court turned into the United States' advantage, and the US Women's team showed one more time that they are indeed the best in the world.

 

Basketball: Lithuania takes third consecutive bronze medal
Lithuania rebounded from a heartbreaking semifinal loss to the United States of America to defeat Australia 89-71 in the men's basketball bronze medal game on Sunday at the Sydney SuperDome.

 

Basketball: USA claims a third consecutive gold medal
Gold medal favourites, the United States of America, won their third consecutive Olympic Games Men's Basketball gold medal with an 85-75 victory over France.

 

Gymnastics: Women's All-Around Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics
Current world and three-time European Rhythmic Gymnastic champion Alina Kabaeva of Russia topped the qualifying list going into the Individual final at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Take a look at whether she managed gold on Sunday.

 

Athletics: Men's Marathon
A top class field contested the most gruelling event of the Games, the Men's Marathon, on Sunday afternoon. Starting at 4pm, the athletes grinded their way along the 26.2 miles (42.195km) from North Sydney to the stadium, where they were greeted by a packed house of 112,000.
