Ekimov wins gold ahead of Ullrich and Armstrong
Russia's
Viatcheslav Ekimov has won the gold medal in the 46.8 km
individual time trial ahead of Germany's Jan Ullrich and Lance
Armstrong of the USA. The 34-year-old Russian rider beat Ullrich, the
gold medallist from the road race by eight seconds, and was 34
seconds ahead of the dual Tour de France winner, Armstrong. |

Zijlaard blitzes field for third gold medal
Dutch
cyclist Leontien Zijlaard won the 31.2 km Women's
Cycling Road Race Time Trial on Saturday in 42 minutes to claim
her third gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. |

China wins third of four individual golds
Tian
Liang and Hu Jia of China dominated the Men's 10m Platform final
Saturday night, scoring 13
perfect 10's between them to win the final gold and silver
awarded in the diving competition. |

Cameroon win football title and first ever gold
Cameroon
won their first ever gold medal in any Olympic sport on Saturday
when they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with nine-man Spain
and then beat them 5-3 on penalties in a remarkable soccer final. |

Russia win on tie-break
Russia
won a tie-break over Belarus to claim the Olympic
rhythmic gymnastics team gold medal on Saturday on a night
punctuated with boos, whistles and puzzling scoring. |

The
Australian
men's hockey team have repeated their Atlanta performance and
taken bronze in the Sydney 2000 Olympics after defeating Pakistan 6-3
on Saturday. |

US miss double in 4x100
The
United States won the men's 4x100 metres relay in 37.61 seconds, the
fastest time this year. Maurice Greene, who won the 100 metres
individual title a week ago, anchored the American quartet to beat
Brazil and Cuba. The US fared less well in the women's 4x100 metres,
with the Bahamas
winning the relay title ahead of Jamaica in second place and the
United States in third. |

Sydney: Volunteers to be offered Closing Ceremony tickets
A
special
allocation of 5,000 tickets to the Closing Ceremony of the
Sydney 2000 Olympic Games will be offered on Sunday, free of charge,
to Games volunteers. They will be distributed from 7.00am on Sunday
to accredited Olympic Games and ORTA volunteers on a first come,
first served basis. |

One
of the most dazzling players in the NBA, Kevin Garnett is expected
to light up the scoreboard in Sydney. Garnett, who joined the NBA
straight out of high school, has had a stellar pro career without the
benefit of experience in college ball. This versatile dominator, who
wound up in the NBA's top 20 in scoring, rebounding, blocks and
steals last year, plans
to lead Team USA to gold tomorrow. |
